Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers History
Part of the fire that burns in the rivalry between Pittsburgh and Cleveland is that the cities where the franchises reside are both blue-collar midwestern towns. Fans often make the two-hour, 135-mile trip from one city to another to root for their team in these tightly contested divisional matchups. While Cleveland dominated the rivalry against the Steelers in the 1950s and 1960s 31-9, Pittsburgh has had a series of dominant runs since the 1970s.
Between 1970–1979, Pittsburgh won 15 out of 20 games against Cleveland on the way to four Super Bowl titles (1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979). Cleveland turned the script somewhat in the ’80s, going 12-8 against Pittsburgh, including a 51-0 win in 1989, marking the largest defeat in Steelers franchise history.
Pittsburgh has been a model of stability, only having three head coaches between 1969 and 2023: Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin (each of which has at least one Super Bowl championship). Meanwhile, the Browns have had 11 head coaches since 2000.
Where Do the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers Play?

Acrisure Stadium is also the home of the Pitt Panther NCAA College Football team. The record attendance for an event at Acrisure is 75,000 during the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour in 2019.
Meanwhile, Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio, has been the stadium of the Browns since 1999. Huntington Bank Field is located on the shore of Lake Eerie.
