The 49ers beat Seattle four times in the first six games, including in 1988 on the way to their Super Bowl XXIII victory. However, between 2000 and 2022, Seattle has won 28 of 46 games behind the stellar play of quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Russell Wilson.
Tempers flared in 2014 in the NFC Championship Game when Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman made a game-sealing deflection in the fourth quarter. In his postgame interview, Sherman called 49ers star Michael Crabtree a “sorry receiver” and “mediocre at best.” Four years later, Sherman signed with the 49ers.
Between 2014 and 2021, the Seahawks swept the regular season over the 49ers six times, and between 2013 and 2017, Seattle won 10 straight games over San Francisco.

Levi’s Stadium (seating approximately 68,500) has been home to the 49ers since 2014 and cost about $1.3 billion to construct. The next-gen stadium is one of the league’s most high-tech and eco-friendly, with 1,186 high-efficiency solar panels and a “green roof” featuring 16 species of vegetation native to the Bay area.
