Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Freeway Series History

The first competitive meeting of the Angels and Dodgers took place in June 1997 when the Dodgers won 4-3. Overall, the squads have squared off 154 times, with the Angels leading 81–73.

Throughout the 2010s, the Angels held the overall head-to-head edge 29–21. However, the series has evened out the 2020s, with both teams notching rivalry-best win-streaks: the Dodgers topped out at 10 wins from August 2021 to July 2023, while the Angels notched seven wins from September 2024 to August 2025. The largest margin of victory is shared by both teams at 13 runs, when the Angels blanked the Dodgers 13-0 in 2004 and the Dodgers won via blowout 16-3 in 2006. The two Los Angeles teams have never met in the playoffs, and have only made the postseason in the same year four times: 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2014.


In 2025, the Freeway Series was recognized for Major League Baseball’s inaugural Rivalry Weekend with the Angels taking all three games at Dodger Stadium. The second edition of MLB Rivalry Weekend set the rematch for May 15 to 17, 2026 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
