Hollywood Palladium History
Built in 1940 on the site of the old Paramount Pictures Studio Lot, the Hollywood Palladium is one of the most historic music halls in Los Angeles. Situated on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of Hollywood, the Palladium completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2008 which included a new dance floor and improvements to both the interior and exterior of the Art Deco building.
Hollywood Palladium Performers
The Palladium has seen historic Los Angeles performances beginning with its first-ever show on Halloween night of 1940, when a young vocalist named Frank Sinatra took the stage with Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra. Jimi Hendrix and the MC5 headlined the infamous Pop Expo ‘69, and Hollywood was abuzz when Jay-Z, backed by a 12-piece orchestra, inaugurated the renovated stage in a landmark 2008 performance. LCD Soundsystem played one of their first comeback shows at the Palladium in 2010, and Björk played here on her Biophilia tour in 2013. Comedian Dave Chappelle also recorded Netflix comedy specials at the Palladium in 2016.
Planning Your Visit to Hollywood Palladium
You’ll find full bars throughout both floors of the building. While food options are limited to snacks, Hollywood’s diverse dining scene is a short walk away — right outside the door off of Sunset Blvd. The Bowery is a popular gastropub serving burgers and drinks galore, Sugarfish is LA’s trendiest omakase sushi and the iconic Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles is open late for post-concert fare. The Palladium’s on-site parking lot is the most convenient option upon arrival.
