Wanted unfurls the real life legend of Mary and Martha Clark, the Black daughters of a sharecropper in 19th century Texas who turn themselves into Wild West outlaws to secure their family’s inheritance. Starring Solea Pfeiffer, Liisi LaFontaine and Ledisi, Wanted opens November 8 at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

Ledisi previewed the musical’s powerful themes—including race, the concept of passing and the definition of freedom—in an exclusive interview with Ticketmaster ahead of opening night. “The timing of this story is perfect,” the Grammy winner said. “I want us to remember our tie to each other…Race is the story, but it’s also not. To me, the tie of legacy, love and family is the most important part that we keep forgetting about.”

Downstate

Tony-winning playwright Bruce Norris’ controversial and polarizing new tragicomedy, Downstate, is set in the unlikeliest of places: a group home for convicted sex offenders in downstate Illinois. Among the residents overseen by a probation officer are four different men convicted of sex crimes against minors. But when one of the offender’s now-grown victims pays a visit, his presence sets in motion a confrontation with dire consequences. Downstate opens for a strictly limited engagement on November 15 at the Booth Theatre.

Much Ado About Nothing

Courtesy of visionary director Jamie Lloyd, Much Ado About Nothing receives a sparkling, joyful reinvention starring Tom Hiddleston as Benedick and Hayley Atwell as Beatrice. Following its hit run on London’s West End, the Shakespearean revival will open November 19 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Mason Alexander Park, who plays Margaret in Much Ado, teased how the adaptation is “heavily populated with talk of music” while assembling an exclusive pre-show playlist for Ticketmaster. “Being able to inject this ridiculously colorful production with some certified BANGERS has been such a joy,” said the non-binary actor, who belts out several club songs during the show, “and I am so honored that Jamie has trusted me with the microphone this time around.”

Taking the show’s name from the street number of his longtime address, Crystal relives his memories and moments that mattered the most, and reflects on how the power of laughter can overcome even the hardest of times.

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)

Dougal and Robin’s baked goods-filled journey across New York City comes to an end November 29 at the Longacre Theatre. The sweet, two-person musical from British newcomers Jim Barne and Kit Buchan earned eight Tony nominations this season (including Best Musical) and turned out star-making performances from Sam Tutty and Christiani Pitts.

In an exclusive interview with Ticketmaster, Tutty reflected on bringing Two Strangers to New York after originating the role of Dougal on London’s West End. “It feels like the show’s home and it feels really right doing it in the city that it’s about,” the Olivier Award winner said at the time. “It just feels very much like the circle is complete now. We sort of can’t get better than this.”
