After a winter buffeted by headline-making blizzards, spring is finally, hopefully around the corner in New York City. As the metropolis watches the icy weather melt away, a new slate of Broadway shows are poking their heads out of the snow, promising fresh and exciting stories on stage.
Among the new shows opening this month are a heartwarmingly original experiment with a Harry Potter star, a star-studded stage adaptation of an Oscar-winning crime thriller straight out of the 1970s and a look into the scandalous views behind the facade of one of the world’s most celebrated children’s authors.
Plus, top shows on Broadway in March will sweep audiences away — from the halls of the Emerald City to a musical paradise in Old Havana and an unforgettable nightclub brimming with tunes like “Beyond the Sea,” “Dreamlover” and “That’s All.”

Top Shows on Broadway in March 2026
Wicked
In March, Wicked starts a brand new story, as two fresh faces become the would-be Witches of Oz. Keri René Fuller will green-ify herself full-time as Elphaba after serving as standby at the Gershwin Theatre for the iconic character. Meanwhile, West End leading lady Emma Flynn makes her Broadway debut as Glinda fresh off of headlining the musical adaptation of Clueless in London.
While prepping for the premiere of her latest Broadway role in Redwood, Idina Menzel spoke exclusively with Ticketmaster about the impact that originating the role of Elphaba played in her life. ”I can only speak for myself and that I feel an immense amount of pride having been a part of this incredible legacy,” the Tony winner said. “I just know that I’m a better person having played that character. And even more so for being able to sing her music.”

Every Brilliant Thing
Two years after wrapping up his Tony-winning turn in Merrily We Roll Along, Daniel Radcliffe is back on Broadway in Every Brilliant Thing. Rather than a one-man show, the theatrical experiment functions as more of an interactive monologue, with the Harry Potter icon enlisting copious and enthusiastic participation from the audience as he ruminates on all the brilliant, little things that make life worth living.

Dog Day Afternoon
Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are trading the kitchen of The Bear for the Broadway stage, as the longtime co-stars reunite for the pulse-pounding stage adaptation of Dog Day Afternoon.
Based on the Oscar-winning 1975 drama starring Al Pacino, the stage play brings to thrilling, terrifying life the summer day in 1972 when a desperate man took a Brooklyn branch of Chase Manhattan bank hostage. Directed by Rupert Goold with a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis, Dog Day Afternoon begins performances at the August Wilson Theatre on March 10 for a strictly limited engagement of just 18 weeks.

Giant
John Lithgow is bringing his acclaimed portrayal of Roald Dahl to Broadway in Giant. The biographical play, which has already lit up London’s West End and earned a trio of Olivier Awards, finds the legendary children’s author at a scandalous crossroads as an antisemitic article he penned threatens to taint his legacy on the brink of the 1983 publication of The Witches.

Since December, some of the industry’s funniest comedians and actors have been delighting audiences at the Nederlander Theatre with humorist Simon Rich’s stories about ambition, envy, greed and being a New Yorker. The follow-up to last year’s All In: Comedy About Love will take its final bow on March 8 with a finale cast including Ray Romano, Nicholas Braun, Jake Shane and Jenny Slate with original music by Grammy-nominated soul-pop band Lawrence.

Bug
Bug may be closing its first-ever Broadway run on March 8, but Tracy Letts’ dark comedy’s unsettling paranoia will linger with audiences long after they leave the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Directed by David Cromer, Bug stars Carrie Coon as Agnes, a cocktail waitress living out of a decrepit Oklahoma motel room who descends into a wild-eyed world of government conspiracy theories after meeting Namir Smallwood’s Gulf War veteran Peter.
