What To Know About Ticketmaster’s New Mobile Ticket
When it comes to your tickets, we take safety seriously. Ticket security is essential for protecting you against fraud and ensuring you get into your event smoothly.
As part of our security measures that are put in place to protect fans, we ensure that all tickets sold on our platform are legitimate.
Often, other ticket marketplaces don’t require that resellers show proof that they actually have the ticket in their possession, which can lead to spec listings, seats moved to a different (worse) location, or worst of all: That you don’t get into the event at all.
Over the last decade, Ticketmaster has invested more than $1 billion — more than anyone else in the industry — in measures that keep your tickets safe, including anti-bot technology, fraud detection and ticket security. All tickets sold on our marketplace, including our 100% verified resale tickets (which appear as pink dots on our seatmaps), are legitimate. Still, we’re constantly evolving our technology to stay ahead of scammers and adapt to the changing landscape while continuing to ensure our tickets are safe and secure.
As part of our ticket security efforts, we’re introducing a new mobile ticket design that you’ll now notice when viewing your tickets in the Ticketmaster App. Here’s what our new ticket looks like, and why it’s important.

What the New Ticketmaster Mobile Ticket Looks Like
Our mobile ticket now features a new design, which can be customized by the event to feature specific artist, performer or team branding. These tickets not only look different — they’re now safer than ever. We’ve added a new enhanced protected barcode on tickets for some events, and clear messaging will show you where it will be displayed when it’s ready. Sometimes, you won’t see the barcode until a few days before your event, but don’t worry—you won’t need it until the day of. You can sell, transfer, add to wallet, or otherwise manage your tickets before the barcode is ready. And if you’re going with friends, always transfer tickets to whoever you’re attending the event with.
As always, screenshots won’t get you in, but with the new ticket, screenshots and screen recordings of a ticket will be blocked, so you don’t get tripped up on event day. Now, you’ll see just a white or black screen in your camera roll if you screenshot your ticket — this helps protect you against scammers, who could take a screenshot of a ticket and send it to multiple people.
There’s also a new “live” aspect to your ticket. You’ll now see a light that moves when you tilt your phone. Adding this live element shows event staff that the ticket is active and authentic.
We’re constantly evolving our tickets to be more safe and secure, and will keep fans updated on any future changes.

Why Ticket Security Is Important
When you purchase tickets to an event, you want to be able to trust that the ticket you’re buying is authentic. Imagine you’ve waited months for your event, only to be turned away from the gate or door because your ticket is fake. Fake tickets ruin the event experience. But the work we do to ensure your ticket is safe and secure protects you from scams.
Ticket security is also about protecting the rights you have as a fan. You have the right to a smooth experience when it comes to getting into your event. We believe that every ticket should represent a fan who actually plans to attend the show or game.
Fans are a large part of what drives the live event industry. Without you, events simply can’t happen.
How to Make Sure Your Ticket is Legit
As always, make sure to buy tickets from an official source. If you buy tickets for a Ticketmaster event through social media or on a third-party site, though, there’s always the chance that bad actors will send you a fraudulent or invalid ticket — leading to issues or even denied entry on event day. So, it’s important to always buy from official sources and avoid third-party sites.
If you bought tickets on Ticketmaster, including 100% Verified Resale tickets, you can rest easy knowing your ticket is legit.
If you bought tickets from a third-party marketplace (not Ticketmaster), make sure the tickets are transferred to your Ticketmaster Account. Your order should always be in your Ticketmaster Account and Ticketmaster App.
Once you’ve accepted a mobile transfer or otherwise received a Ticketmaster ticket, here’s how to tell if it’s legit.
- Sign in to your Ticketmaster Account on desktop or in the Ticketmaster App.
- Find your event and view your tickets.
- If your tickets are in your account, you’re good to go.
Spot the fake: If you bought tickets on a third-party site and received a suspicious-looking link to “tickets” that open in a browser instead of accepting a mobile transfer, the tickets are likely fake:

Why Having a Legit Ticket Matters
“If I’m purchasing a ticket to an event online, and it looks and sounds legit, shouldn’t I be able to trust that it’s a real ticket?” Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. There’s a huge incentive for brokers and bad actors to resell tickets for inflated prices. Some may even try and do this before they actually have the ticket in their possession (otherwise known as spec listings).
Making sure that your ticket is authentic guarantees that you’re the only person with that ticket, and will be able to get into the venue smoothly. If you buy tickets from a bad actor, they could replicate your ticket and send it to multiple fans. If another fan shows up with the same ticket and scans it before you, you likely won’t be able to get in. When your ticket is authentic and unique to you, these types of scams are avoided.
Having an authentic ticket also gives you peace of mind because it ensures that the seller can’t change your seats after you purchase them. All of the above are risks you take when purchasing tickets from a third-party marketplace. If you end up with a non-legit or spec ticket purchased from one of these marketplaces, yes, you’ll hopefully get a refund, but you could miss the show or game.
Also, when you have a legit ticket in your Ticketmaster Account, we can alert you about important updates as your event approaches. If you need help with your tickets leading up to your event or on event day, our Fan Support team can quickly verify your ticket when it’s legit and in your Ticketmaster Account.
Having tickets in your Ticketmaster Account, then using them and enjoying the event, tells us you’re the type of person we want shopping on our site. By scanning in and showing us that you’re attending shows, it helps reduce your chances of being mistakenly flagged for suspicious activity as we continue to crack down on bad actors.
What Should I Do If My Ticket Isn’t Real?
Don’t see your tickets in your Ticketmaster Account? They might not be legit. In that case, you’ll need to contact the source you bought tickets from, provide the email associated with your Ticketmaster Account, and ask them to transfer the tickets to you directly.
With an official transfer, you’ll be more protected against fraud.
