5 Post-Pandemic Essentials to Bring to Live Events

Live events are ramping back up in 2021, and we couldn’t be more excited. Although there is a sense of normalcy returning, it’s still important that we all continue following CDC guidelines to protect ourselves and others from the spread of COVID-19. Whether you’re heading to a sporting event, snagged tickets to a concert, or are planning a fun family activity, here are five COVID-friendly essentials to bring with you to your next live event.

Wear a fun mask

First and foremost, wear your face mask and keep it on at all times during the live event, except while eating or drinking. Ensure that your face-covering fits snuggly and comfortably, and covers both your nose and mouth. And, keep things fun by wearing a mask that matches either your outfit or the occasion. Heading to the Bad Bunny concert? Complete your outfit with a holographic, glow-in-the-dark mask. Got tickets to Disney on Ice Presents Dream Big? Snag masks with your family’s favorite Disney character.

Rock a face shield

For extra protection, rocking a face shield is also an option. You can find them available at different price points, and they come in a variety of styles that can be surprisingly cool and stylish, including shields with an attached hat or shields that also double as sun protection. That said, please note that the CDC advises wearing face shields in addition to face masks, not in replacement.

Pack some hand sanitizer

According to the CDC, washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water is the best way to keep yourself protected. If soap and water aren’t easily accessible, hand sanitizer is the next best thing. The CDC recommends using sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol and rubbing it into your hands until dry. Stash one in your bag or pocket and use it as needed during the live event.

Bring disinfectant wipes

Disinfectant wipes come in handy if you need to wipe down public surfaces, such as a seat or table at a live event. Venues must abide by strict sanitization protocols for events but bringing your own disinfectant wipes can give you and your friends and family some added peace of mind. Bonus tip: A travel pack of tissues also makes an excellent live event essential for sneezing and coughing into and using them to open doors, turn on faucets, etc.

Use a no-touch keychain

At live events or anywhere really, you may have to come in contact with many surfaces such as doorknobs, elevator buttons, and ATMs, which could be brimming with viruses and bacteria. Enter: no-touch keychains. These handy additions to your keys act as an additional finger, so you don’t have to touch things directly. The best part? Most are pretty affordable and run you about the price of a fancy latte. Some no-touch keychains are also multi-purpose, allowing you to open bottles with them or use them as a stylus tool for digital devices.

Final live event tips

Read on for some additional tips on staying protected while attending live events.

  • Research the venue. As you’re planning your live event outing, it could be helpful and reassuring to check with the organizer or event venue for updated details on COVID-19 safety guidelines and what they’re doing to keep attendees safe. Some event organizers may also require health checks in order to attend an event.
  • Look up travel guidelines. If you’re traveling to an event, also check travel guidelines. Some locations may require COVID-19 testing before and upon arrival. If you don’t feel comfortable traveling to a live event just yet, look for events happening in your city or ones a short drive away.
  • Use touchless payment methods and ticketing. To minimize the things you have to touch at a live event, opt for touchless payment methods when paying for things such as Apple Pay. The same goes for ticketing. If possible, opt for a digital ticket, an essential for safe entry.
