Golden State Warriors vs. Toronto Raptors Series History

Because Golden State plays in the Western Conference and Toronto plays in the East, their rivalry does not burn as fiercely as others in the NBA. However, the 2019 NBA Finals featured tension and competitive fire between the Warriors and the Raptors. Despite being underdogs, the Raptors won the series 4–2 over Golden State.

With a star-studded lineup of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors faced two critical injuries in the playoffs. Durant strained his calf earlier in the NBA Playoffs, and featured a subsequent Achilles tear in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. One game later, Thompson tore his ACL and both remained out for the entire 2020 season.

The Raptors were powered by their all-star forward Kawhi Leonard, who they acquired in a trade the offseason before. Leonard averaged 28.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists on his way to receiving Finals MVP. He was also the defensive anchor for the Raptors, disrupting the flow of the Warriors offense and often guarding Curry, Thompson or Green.

Overall, the Raptors and Warriors have faced off 58 times, with the Warriors holding a 34–24 edge. The Warriors also hold the longest win streak, rattling off eight straight from 2015–18.
