What it Means to be a New York Jets Super Fan

New York Jets fans are arguably the most intense fanbase in all of the NFL. The big moment in Jets fandom was their 1969 Super Bowl Win under quarterback Joe Namath. Since then, it has been an uphill battle. The New York Jets haven’t won a playoff game since their 2010 victory against the New England Patriots. However, their fans have remained loyal to their team. The rowdy behavior of the Jets fans is well known across the league. Regardless of what anyone says about Jets fans, the fact is, they show up around the country and have a foothold in every nook and cranny in the United States.

New York Jets fans are huge volunteers and supporters of their local communities. The New York Jets Foundation encourages fans to join their community to help support the lives of young men and women in the tri-state area by contributing to youth football leagues, anti-bullying campaigns and promoting social justice in disadvantaged communities.

Game day is an electric and highly anticipated day for all Jets fans. Starting off the day with a tailgate, Jets fans file into the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey five hours before kickoff. MetLife Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in the NFL, with a capacity of 82,500. Tailgates are filled with thousands of enthusiastic Jets fans that circle MetLife Stadium, rain, snow or shine to celebrate the New York Jets. MetLife Stadium encourages tailgating, allowing it in almost every lot surrounding the stadium. Tailgates for Jets game days are filled with cookouts, drinks, games and cheers. Along with thousands of individual tailgaters, the Jets tailgates also have the respected and well-known TailgateJoe location. Jets Fest is another tailgate section that happens on the Plaza at MetLife Stadium. Jet Fest is full of games, contests and opportunities to get autographs and meet New York Jets veterans.

Inside the stadium is more or less the same as the outside; fun, rowdy Jets fans eating, drinking and shouting. A staple in the Jets fandom is the chanting of the “J! E! T! S! Jets! Jets! Jets!” Fans wear full face makeup, football gear and head-to-toe green and white as they hope for a New York Jets win.
