Just In Time Original Broadway Cast Recording Overview
The legendary music of Bobby Darin fills Circle in the Square Theatre eight times a week in Just In Time. Bringing the hit jukebox musical to Broadway was a labor of love for Jonathan Groff, who invites audiences to take a tour of the pioneering pop crooner’s life and legacy as he steps into his shoes each night.
Just In Time earned six nominations at the 2025 Tony Awards, including acting nods for both Groff and Gracie Lawrence, who portrayed Connie Francis in her Broadway debut. Now, the musical’s lively, lush cast recording is up for Best Musical Theater Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February.
“We got to record with [the band] live and I think that was really important: ensuring that the cast album sounds as close to what you would experience if you were live and in the theater with us,” star Erika Henningsen, who originated the role of Sandra Dee, told Ticketmaster in an exclusive interview when the cast recording was released back in August. “I just think it’s so special.”

Lyrics to Just In Time’s Most Famous Songs
“Somewhere beyond the sea/ Somewhere, waiting for me/ My lover stands on golden sands/ And watches the ships that go sailing” – Bobby Darin in “Beyond the Sea”
“‘Twas my first real love/ But my heart knew then/ I’d never have a love again/ Like my first real love/ Just a teenage dream/ But it seemed so real/ And now I know I’ll never, ever feel/ Like my first real love” – Bobby Darin and Connie Francis in “My First Real Love”
“Splish splash, I was takin’ a bath/ Long about a Saturday night/ Yeah, a rub dub, just relaxin’ in the tub/ Thinking everything was alright” – Bobby Darin in “Splish Splash”
“Who’s sorry now?/ Who’s sorry now?/ Whose heart is achin’ for breakin’ each vow? Who’s sad and blue? Who’s cryin’ too?/ Just like I cried over you/ Right to the end/ Just like a friend/ I tried to warn you somehow/ But you had your way/ And now you must pay/ I’m glad that you’re sorry now” – Connie Francis in “Who’s Sorry Now”
“I can only give you love that lasts forever/ And the promise to be near each time you call/ And the only heart I own/ For you, and you alone/ That’s all/ That’s all” – Polly in “That’s All”
“Oh, the shark, babe/ Has such teeth, dear/ And it shows them pearly white/ Just a jackknife/ Has Old MacHeath, babe/ And he keeps it out of sight/ You know when that shark bites/ With his teeth, babe/ Scarlet billows start to spread/ Fancy gloves, though/ Wears Old MacHeath, babe/ So there’s never, never a trace of red” – Bobby Darin in “Mack the Knife”
“Every night I hope and pray/ A dream lover will come my way/ A girl to hold in my arms/ And know the magic of her charms/ ‘Cause I want (Yeah-yeah, yeah)/ A girl (Yeah-yeah, yeah)/ To call (Yeah-yeah, yeah)/ My own (Yeah-yeah, yeah)/ I want a dream lover/ So I don’t have to dream alone” – Bobby Darin in “Dream Lover”
“So let all of your singers sing, but not for me/ And let all of your church bells ring, but not for me/ And if tomorrow, all your sorrows should be/ Just like mine, then you cry, but not for me/ No, not for me/ Never for me” – Sandra Dee in “Not For Me”
“Multiplication/ That’s the name of the game/ And each generation/ You know they play the same” – Charlie and Don in “Multiplication”
“Now don’t you fret/ And don’t you worry ‘bout me, ‘cause I’ll never forget/ How much you mean to me/ I love you, I love you/ My whole life through/ Tell me/ Who wouldn’t fall for irresistible you?” – Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee in “Irresistible You”
“(Thinking of things) Like a walk in the park/ (Things) Like a kiss in the dark/ (Things) Like a sailboat ride/ (Yeah-yeah) What about the night we cried?/ Things like a lovers’ vow/ Things that we don’t do now / Thinking ‘bout the things we used to do” – Sandra Dee, Guys and Sirens in “Things”
“It keeps on rainin’/ Oh, how much more/ Will it keep rainin’/ Will it still pour?/ Maybe there’s someone/ Waitin’ around/ The bend, a friend/ Who’ll lend an end/ To all this rainin’/ This awful rainin’/ And bring me some love” – Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee in “Rainin’”
“If I were a carpenter/ And you were a lady/ Would you marry me anyway?/ Would you have my baby?” – Bobby Darin in “If I Were a Carpenter”
“Once in a lifetime/ A man knows a moment/ One wonderful moment/ When fate takes his hand/ And this is my moment/ My once in a lifetime/ When I can explore/ A new and exciting land” – Bobby Darin in “Once in a Lifetime / That’s All”
“We’ve shared a moment/ And as that moment ends/ I’ve got a funny feelin’/ We’re parting now as friends/ Your cheers and laughter/ Will linger after/ They’ve torn down these dusty walls/ If I had this to do again/ And the evening were new again/ I would spend it with you, again/ But now, the curtain falls” – Bobby Darin in “The Curtain Falls”
