Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings History

In the 2023 Western Conference First Round, the 6-seed Golden State Warriors upset the 3-seed Sacramento Kings in seven games. Sacramento won games one and two at home, before Golden State stormed back to win three straight.

The Warriors had a closeout game at home in game six, but the Kings steamrolled Golden State 118–99 behind a combined 54 points from guards De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. However, the Warriors showed championship resolve, coming back to win game seven 120–100 behind a record 50 points from Steph Curry. The three games Sacramento won were their first playoff wins since 2002.

From 2000–2004, the Kings won a series record 15 straight games over the Warriors. Their 15th victory was capped off by a game-winning three-pointer from Bobby Jackson, who broke a 101 tie with 50 seconds left. Kings forward Peja Stojaković’ iced the game with free throws with 1.3 seconds left, and the Kings won 106–103.

Golden 1 Center has been the home arena for the Sacramento Kings since 2014. The replacement of ARCO Arena, Golden 1 Center has a seating capacity of 17,608 and is located in downtown Sacramento. The arena has also hosted WWE Raw and Smackdown events, UFC main events, and NCAA Division I basketball tournament games.

The newest arena of the NBA, Chase Center has been the home of the Golden State Warriors since 2019. Located on the bay coast of San Francisco, Chase Center replaced Oracle Center in Oakland. Due to the high property cost in San Francisco, Chase Center cost $1.4 billion to construct and seats 18,064 fans.
