How Face Value Exchange Works

Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange gives fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy tickets at the original price set by the artists.

Face Value Exchange also offers fans the flexibility to sell their tickets, should your plans change. Tickets can only be resold on Ticketmaster at face value for the price that was paid, so fans can make their money back while making another fan’s night. To ensure Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange works as intended, all tickets are mobile-only and restricted from transfer.

Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange is simple and secure. You can trust that you’re getting an official ticket, at the price set by the artist.

In states where laws prevent resale restrictions, transfer will be available, but Ticketmaster will still honor the artist’s terms by keeping resale prices at face value on its site.

If the artist has chosen to use Face Value Exchange, here’s how to list your tickets for sale:

  1. Sign in to My Account, click My Tickets then select See Details next to your event.
  2. Click the Sell button.
  3. Choose to list one or all your tickets for the price you paid.
  4. Tell us how you’d like to get paid.
  5. Review your listing and you’re all set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who determines how much I can sell my tickets for on Ticketmaster if the artist is using Face Value Exchange?

When listing tickets for sale on Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange, the listing price will be automatically set at the total price you paid. The listing price will include the face value price originally set by the artist, plus any applicable fees and taxes you paid.

Why can’t I change the price of my ticket when I list it for sale?

Face Value Exchange was developed to provide artists with a way to minimize scalping and get tickets to fans at the price they set. To respect the artist’s decision, tickets may only be listed on Ticketmaster at the total price paid, which includes the face value price of the ticket plus any applicable fees and taxes.

Do I get to pick who I sell my tickets to?

No. When listing tickets on Ticketmaster, they’ll be made available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis. To share your listing directly with people you know, you can access a unique link after you’ve listed your tickets on Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange.

I don’t see any resale tickets available for purchase on Ticketmaster. What should I do?

It’s likely that other fans will only list their tickets once they are absolutely certain of a scheduling conflict, or last-minute issue preventing them from attending their event. We suggest checking back often — you never know when more tickets might pop up.

Is there a deadline to list my tickets for sale?

Tickets may be listed up until one hour after the event start time. However, the sooner you can list your tickets, the better the opportunity for them to be purchased by another fan. Once it’s been an hour since the event started, any tickets that have not sold will be placed back into your account and will be available for you to use.

What happens if my tickets don’t sell?

Your tickets will remain available for purchase until one hour after the start of the event. Once that time has passed, any tickets that have not sold will be placed back into your account and will be available for you to use.
