Beetlejuice
Say his name three times, because Beetlejuice is back on Broadway! Fresh off its North American tour, the hilariously devilish musical based on Tim Burton’s classic 1988 film has come to its final resting place at the Palace Theatre just in time for the scariest month of the year. The hit show’s latest resurrection may mark its third haunting of the Great White Way (following productions in 2019 and 2022), but this last chance to see Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz and the Maitlands bring the Netherworld to life will only last 13 weeks. Performances of the strictly limited run are set to begin October 8.

The Queen of Versailles
Kristin Chenoweth is having “Caviar Dreams” playing real-life documentary subject (and cultural sensation) Jackie Siegel in The Queen of Versailles. Based on the 2012 documentary of the same name, the new musical from Stephen Schwartz follows the tumultuous and hilarious journey as the socialite attempts to build her massive, 90,000-square-foot dream mansion in central Florida. The Queen of Versailles arrives at the St. James Theatre starting October 8.

Liberation
Following an Off-Broadway run, playwright Bess Wohl brings a thought-provoking examination of second-wave feminism to Broadway with her new play Liberation. Directed by Whitney White, the show follows a group of women fighting for gender equality in 1970s Ohio, as well as one of their daughters, searching for answers to her mother’s life half a century later. Liberation begins performances on October 8 at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

Oh, Mary!
Mary Todd Lincoln’s acclaimed, demented reign as the brightest cabaret star on Broadway shows no signs of stopping any time soon, with Tony winner Jane Krakowski moving into Lincoln’s Oval Office starting October 14. The 30 Rock alum will also be joined by Cheyenne Jackson, who will be taking over the role of Mary’s Teacher from original cast member James Scully. (Ahead of Krakowski taking over the Lyceum Theatre, Hannah Solow will be stepping into the former First Lady’s petticoats and pin curls from September 30 to October 12.)

Wicked
There’s nothing that can stop these witches from being popu…lar. Wicked remains a Broadway must-see as it transports audiences to an Oz before Dorothy dropped in. The story of Elphaba and Glinda before they became the famous Witches of Oz is nothing short of a modern classic, filled with famous songs like “The Wizard and I,” “What Is This Feeling?” and, of course, “Defying Gravity.” Plus, there couldn’t be a good-lier time to spend one short day spellbound at the Gershwin Theatre before Wicked: For Good hits theaters November 21.
