Home of the Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium is Nashville’s premier sports arena. Located on the east bank of the Cumberland River across from downtown Nashville, Nissan Stadium hosts a variety of sporting events, including home games for the Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee State Tigers football team.
Opening as the Adelphia Coliseum in 1999 to coincide with the team’s inaugural season as the Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium has grown to become a fixture of the state’s capital, playing host to the annual TransPerfect Music City Bowl postseason college football game, the nascent Major League Soccer team Nashville SC’s first two seasons and numerous headlining performances during the city-wide CMA Music Festival. Taylor Swift set the stadium’s all-time attendance record with over 70,000 fans checking in at her massive May 7, 2023 show. Ed Sheeran broke that record on July 22, 2023 when 73,874 attended his show.
The official address for Nissan Stadium is 1 Titans Way.

Nissan Stadium History
Opening its gates to guests for the first time in 1999, Nissan Stadium (then called Adelphia Coliseum) hosted its first regular season NFL game on September 12, 1999, when the newly relocated Tennessee Titans narrowly beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 36-35. The game was the culmination of a four-year-long endeavor that ultimately saw the Houston Oilers relocate from Texas to Nashville under the new Titans franchise name. Integral to the deal struck between Oilers owner Bud Adams and Nashville Mayor Bill Bredesen was an agreement that included building the team a new stadium on the east bank of the Cumberland River across from downtown Nashville.
With an initial construction cost of $290 million, Nissan Stadium has undergone a series of renovations and improvements since its construction in 1999. In 2012, Nissan Stadium was upgraded with new sound systems, high-speed elevators, LED ribbon boards and two massive HD Lighthouse LED video displays (measuring 157 feet by 54 feet), which where then the second-largest screens in an NFL stadium — behind the jumbo screens at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium.
The Titans switched from playing on real grass to artificial turf in the fall of 2023, and the playing surface at Nissan Stadium is currently Matrix Helix Turf with organic infill.
As of a February 2024 groundbreaking, New Nissan Stadium is under construction. It is expected to replace the current Nissan Stadium beginning in 2027. The new stadium will have an enclosed, translucent roof (unlike the current open-air stadium).
Through its long history in Nashville, Nissan Stadium has hosted performances by iconic musical artists such as Beyoncé, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chris Stapleton, Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones. In addition to Titans games, the stadium has been the site of the NHL Stadium Series, Major League Soccer games, FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the NCAA Music City Bowl, and the Music City Grand Prix.

Nissan Stadium lots include 114 accessible parking spaces to accommodate guests with disabilities, who should have their ADA placard or license plate visible when entering the lot.

Rideshare options for Titans fans on game day include the InShuttle park-and-ride program that runs shuttles starting 90 minutes before kickoff until 15 minutes after kickoff. Shuttles resume again for approximately 90 minutes after the game ends. Roundtrip tickets cost $15 (free for children five and under) and accessible buses are available for guests with disabilities. Nashville’s only commuter train, the WeGo Star, is also available for rideshare on game days as The Titan Express, bringing guests and fans from the surrounding communities of Lebanon, Hamilton Springs, Martha, Mt. Juliet, Hermitage and Donelson to Nissan Stadium.
Entrance to Nissan Stadium is granted two hours prior to kickoff on game days and guests are encouraged to arrive early.
