Choose Your World Cup 2026 Trip Style

Multi-Match City Stay

This option is perfect for fans seeking a shorter, simpler trip — or anyone hoping to make the most of a marquee city during World Cup 2026. Set up in one destination and build a trip around multiple matches, while also having time to explore the city’s restaurants, neighborhoods, nightlife, and attractions.

Follow-Your-Team Trip

Is travel centered on supporting your national team throughout multiple cities, catching as many matches as possible? This type of trip is perfect for fans who want to be in the stands every step of the way, traveling from host city to host city as the team advances.

Hospitality/Premium-Led Trip

With any large-scale event, there are those hoping to prioritize an elevated experience. A number of packages can include exclusive hospitality lounges, accommodations, private transportation, and curated experiences in each host city, making it the perfect option for fans who want to enjoy the tournament in style without having to manage logistics.

Key Tournament Dates

  • Opening Match: June 11, 2026
  • Round of 32: June 28 – July 3, 2026

  • Final: July 19, 2026

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Planning a World Cup Trip

Once you’ve found your perfect match, plan ahead to get the most out of your tournament experience with these travel planning tips.

  • Keep itineraries manageable: Rather than overloading a multi-city stay, try to stay flexible and make time to soak up the local scene. Trying to squeeze in rushed flights or too many attractions can make a trip feel difficult to manage; instead, leave room between attractions, sightseeing, and dining.
  • Book lodging early and ahead of time: To secure the best options and rates, book hotels or lodging as far in advance as possible. Many neighborhoods, especially in the most popular areas, tend to fill quickly for large-scale events like the World Cup.
  • Choose host cities that fit a preferred travel and transit style: Every city offers a different experience, so take a moment to take stock of transit options. Happy to jump on the subway, bus, or tram? Consider picking matches in cities with this infrastructure built in. More interested in hitting multiple cities in a larger region? Renting a car might be the best way to get around.
  • Read venue guides, city guides, and FAQs: To uncover insider tips and make each destination easier to navigate, a little research can go a long way. Beyond the venue and city guides right here on Ticketmaster, keep an eye out for local recommendations and updates direct from FIFA.

How to Choose the Right Home Base

Fans traveling for World Cup 2026 should start by deciding what matters most: proximity to the stadium, or staying in a central neighborhood with easy access to restaurants, nightlife, and sightseeing. While some travelers prefer to hop in a car, others prioritize access to public transportation. Similarly, group travelers, couples, and solo fans may all have different needs, influencing whether a one-city basecamp is ideal or if region-hopping to catch multiple matches across cities makes more sense.
