PNC Bank Arts Center History
Opened in 1968 as the Garden State Arts Center, PNC Bank Arts Center is central New Jersey’s premier space for cultural events. The amphitheater was designed by modernist architect Edward Durell Stone. Today the venue holds up to 17,500 visitors, and its stunning design and bucolic surroundings continue to make it a prized destination for music in New Jersey.

The Garden State Arts Center opened with a concert by pianist Van Cliburn and the Philadelphia Orchestra. In the mid ‘90s, the venue began focusing more on popular music, and in addition to hosting festivals like Ozzfest, H.O.R.D.E. and Rock the Bells, its stage has been graced by the likes of Chicago, The Goo Goo Dolls, Luke Bryan and Incubus.
