Marquis Theater History
At the corner of 20th and Larimer in the heart of Denver’s lower downtown, the Marquis has been one of the city’s most exciting places for concerts since opening in 2006. Countless local and national acts have rocked the 450-capacity room, which underwent an extensive remodel in 2015 that added new sound and lighting systems and expanded the bar. Live Nation has booked the space since 2018.
Marquis Theater Performers
The smell of sawdust from the Marquis Theater’s renovation was still fresh when Bayside became the first band to play the stage in 2006. (A then-unknown Jonas Brothers served as opening act for an early show here, too.) The Marquis soon became a haven for acts and audiences who like it loud, serving as a regular stop for punk, rock and metal bands and an incubator for hometown talent. New Found Glory, Trapt, Bouncing Souls and Cage the Elephant have all headlined the Marquis, as well as future hip-hop heavyweights Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
Planning Your Visit to Marquis Theater
Only two blocks from the Colorado Rockies’ home of Coors Field, the Marquis Theater sits conveniently amid the bustling area that locals know as LoDo. Revitalized in recent decades, the neighborhood is full of great restaurants and bars. Mercantile Dining & Provision, Terminal Bar and the Kitchen Denver are all regular stops for the LoDo crowd. And if you can’t decide on where to go before or after a show, you won’t go wrong with a slice from Marquis Pizza.
