Buckhead Theatre History

In the boutique-lined neighborhood of Buckhead, Atlanta, Buckhead Theatre holds the deep history of the American Southeast within its storied walls, while offering a fully modern, state-of-the-art concert experience. Built in Spanish-Baroque style and opened in 1931, the original Buckhead Theatre served as a movie theater and the home to the Buckhead Symphony Orchestra. Over the decades, it changed names frequently, becoming the Capri Theatre in the 1960s to 1970s, then the Capri Ballroom, Buckhead Cinema & Drafthouse, Buckhead Roxy, The Roxy, Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, and finally back to Buckhead Theatre after the freshly renovated venue reopened in 2010. Under its Roxy names, it became a thriving music venue. Today, it remains a beloved local spot for concerts, comedy performances, Broadway plays and more special events.
