Huntington Bank Field is located on the southern shore of Lake Erie. The 67,431-seat complex sits in the middle of the entertainment district in downtown Cleveland, next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center.

Opening in 1999 after a three-year team hiatus, the stadium at one point held the rare distinction of withholding naming rights from corporate sponsors for much of its existence. That changed ahead of the 2024 regular season, when the stadium was named Huntington Bank Field. Along with the lakefront location where it was built, Huntington Bank Field inherited another fixture from its previous home turf at Cleveland Stadium with the infamous “Dawg Pound” fan section finding a new home within the east side bleacher seats. The venue underwent a two-phase renovation which was completed in 2015.

Beyond serving as the home field for the Cleveland Browns, the facility has hosted special events, such as exhibition matches for both the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams, high school and collegiate football games and Monster Jam rallies in 2022 and 2023. As a performance venue, Huntington Bank Field has boasted the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and more.

The address of Huntington Bank Field is 100 Alfred Lerner Way.

Huntington Bank Field History

The Browns’ home field is on the same site the old Cleveland Stadium was from the team’s inception in 1946 until the 1995 season, when owner Art Modell announced his plans to move the team to Baltimore. However, the city of Cleveland and Browns season ticket holders pursued legal action to keep the franchise in Cleveland. Modell eventually agreed to leave the team in Cleveland and instead started a new franchise (which became the Baltimore Ravens).

Instead of just renovating, the city ended up tearing down the stadium and building a new venue. Demolition on the old stadium began in 1997 and the new stadium opened in 1999.  In 2023, Browns owners Jimmy Haslam and Dee Haslam revealed their intentions to remodel the current stadium, with massive renovations expected to begin in 2026.
