The Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers rivalry is one of the oldest in the NBA. The first matchup between these teams occurred in 1948 where the Los Angeles Lakers (then the Minneapolis Lakers) defeated the Golden State Warriors (then the Philadelphia Warriors) 86-67. The Lakers relocated to Los Angeles for the 1960-61 season and were soon followed by the Warriors who moved to San Francisco for the 1962-63 season.
