Are the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers Rivals?

Warriors vs. Clippers games are always heated, as the teams both reside in California and have been division rivals since the San Diego Clippers joined the Western Conference in 1978. Both teams have more intense rivalries, but they typically jockey for position against one another for playoff seeding.

Who Are the Golden State Warriors’ Biggest Rivals?

The Golden State Warriors’ biggest rival is considered to be the Los Angeles Lakers. Both teams came to California in the early 1960s, and have met in the postseason nine times since then. Between 1967 and 1977, they faced off five times, with the Warriors winning the first matchup and the Lakers winning the next four. The Lakers’ success would continue as they’ve beaten the Warriors in eight straight playoff series, including in the 2021 Western Conference play-in game and the 2023 Western Conference semifinals.

Who Are the Los Angeles Clippers’ Biggest Rivals?

The Clippers also have a rivalry with the Lakers. The teams have shared an arena since 1999. It’s also an intra-city rivalry, so local fans are generally split. But the Lakers’ penchant for success and the Clippers’ history without it has made some say the rivalry isn’t true. The teams have never met in the postseason and the Lakers have nearly double the amount of regular season wins that the Clippers do in the series, 150 to 85.

Game Results Between the Warriors & Clippers

The Warriors vs. Clippers rivalry picked up this season on November 30 in San Francisco before switching to Los Angeles for a second straight game on December 2. The final of the four regular season games will be played on February 14 as a Warriors’ home game.
