Who Are Xscape?
Xscape are a multi-platinum-selling R&B girl group from Atlanta, Georgia. The group released their debut album, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha in 1993 after being discovered by Jermaine Dupri. Further albums in the group’s discography include Off The Hook (1995) and Traces of My Lipstick (1998). Overall, Xscape landed four R&B No. 1s — “Just Kickin’ It,” “Understanding,” “Who Can I Run To” and Lil Bow Wow’s “Bounce With Me” — as well as further Top 5 singles “The Arms of the One Who Loves You” and “My Little Secret.”
Xscape went on hiatus in the late ’90s and didn’t reunite with all four members until 2017. Since then, they’ve parlayed their reunion into two Bravo series — Xscape: Still Kickin’ It in 2017 and SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B in 2023. In 2024, the current lineup includes Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris and Tamika Scott.
Who Are SWV?
SWV (Sisters With Voices) are a multi-platinum-selling R&B group from New York City. The trio — Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons — originally began as a gospel group before becoming a defining force in ’90s R&B with albums like It’s About Time (1992), New Beginning (1996) and Release Some Tension (1997). SWV accrued a total of nine Top 10 hits on the R&B chart, including “Weak” and “Right Here (Human Nature Remix),” before going on hiatus in 1998.
After sporadically reuniting throughout the 2000s, SWV released their fifth album, I Missed Us, in 2012. Since then, the trio have released their 2016 LP Still and dabbled in reality TV, most recently in the 2023 Bravo series SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B.
