It finally feels like summer again, with Childish Gambino heading out on The New World Tour in August 2024. Multi-hyphenate Grammy and Emmy Award winner Donald Glover has taken up his hip-hop mantle for one last bow behind Childish Gambino’s fifth and final album, Bando Stone & the New World.

The New World Tour runs across North America, Europe, the UK and Australasia through February 2025, with the first leg kicking off at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 11.

Gambino will hit up Los Angeles and Brooklyn, New York for two nights each, plus dates in Houston, Toronto and a hometown show in Atlanta on September 2. The North American trek wraps at the United Center in Chicago on October 3.

Who is Childish Gambino?

Childish Gambino is the musical persona adopted by Grammy and Emmy-winning singer, writer, actor and producer Donald Glover. The Stone Mountain, Georgia native was musically inclined early in his career, releasing several mixtapes as far back as 2005 before landing his breakout role on the NBC sitcom Community in 2009. While filming, Childish Gambino recorded his 2011 debut EP, two mixtapes and his first two albums, Camp (2011) and Because the Internet (2013).

He continued his music pursuits with 2016’s “Awaken, My Love!” which garnered Glover his first Grammy for its lead single “Redbone.” In 2018, Glover’s one-off single “This Is America” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and collected four Grammys at the 2019 ceremony, including Record and Song of the Year as well as Best Music Video.

In 2020, he released his fourth album, 3.15.20, which was later reissued as 2024’s Atavista. Childish Gambino’s final album Bando Stone & the New World arrived two months later as the soundtrack to a full-length film starring and directed by Glover.

What to Know for Childish Gambino’s New World Tour

No matter what you say or what you do, Donald Glover appears to be ready to retire his Childish Gambino moniker. Although his 2018 This Is America Tour had been dubbed Gambino’s last ride, the rapper returned in 2024 with two albums: Atavista, a finished version of his 2020 release 3.15.20, and Bando Stone & the New World, which itself is a soundtrack for Glover’s film of the same name. Despite his seemingly short-lived revival, Gambino fans know he’ll be around at least until 3005.

In the lead up to The New World Tour, Childish Gambino hosted an album preview show at New York City’s Little Island on July 6. The event marked Glover’s first concert in nearly five years and featured 14 live song debuts along with surprise appearances from Steve Lacy and Fousheé, who feature on Bando Stone. The debut shows on the North American leg in August included early staples like “Freaks and Geeks,” “Bonfire” and “Do Ya Like” as well as an audience pick between “Saturday” from the 2019 Glover-starring film Guava Island or “III. Urn” off 2013’s Because the Internet.
