Formed as a quintet in 2006, the group has expanded to a six-piece featuring brothers Matt Shultz and Brad Shultz, Jared Champion, Daniel Tichenor, Nick Bockrath and Matthan Minster. The band relocated to the U.K. ahead of their 2008 self-titled debut and became a hit on both sides of the pond with the album’s breakout single “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked.” 2011’s Thank You, Happy Birthday followed with a No. 2 debut on the Billboard 200 and a second Hot 100 single with “Shake Me Down.”
Across six albums, Cage the Elephant have experimented with punk, pop, blues, psychedelic rock and more. 2015’s Tell Me I’m Pretty and 2019’s Social Cues both nabbed Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, while the band has earned several platinum-certified singles such as “Cigarette Daydreams,” “Come a Little Closer” and “Trouble.”
