Gypsy Broadway Cast Recording Overview

Mama Rose had a dream, a dream about you, baby! Ever since it premiered at the Broadway Theatre in 1959, Gypsy has left an indelible, unforgettable mark on Broadway history. And with showstopping songs from “Some People” and “Let Me Entertain You” to “If Momma Was Married” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” the musical’s score by Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne has become a cornerstone of the modern musical theater canon.

In 2024, Gypsy received a starry, Tony-nominated revival at the Majestic Theatre headlined by Audra McDonald, with the long-awaited interpretation breathing new life into the story of the indefatigable Mama Rose and her showbiz kids, Louise and Baby June.

The update of Gypsy also got its own brand new cast recording, which nabbed a nomination for Best Musical Theater Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Check out the entire list of songs and their order below.

“Hello, everybody!/ My name is June, what’s yours?/ Let me entertain you/ Let me make you smile/ Let me do a few tricks/ Some old and then some new tricks” –Baby June in “Baby June and Her Newsboys (Let Me Entertain You)”

“If Momma was married, we’d live in a house/ As private as private can be/ Just Momma, three ducks, five canaries, a mouse/ Two monkeys, one father, six turtles and me/ If Momma was married” –Louise, “If Momma Was Married”

“Curtain up, light the lights/ You got nothing to hit but the heights!/ You’ll be swell! You’ll be great!/ I can tell, Just you wait!/ That lucky star I talk about is due!/ Honey, everything’s coming up roses/ For me and for you!” –Mama Rose in “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”

“Honey, everything’s coming up roses and daffodils/ Everything’s coming up sunshine and Santa Claus/ Everything’s gonna be bright lights and lollipops/ Everything’s coming up roses for me and for you!” –Mama Rose in “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”

“Wherever we go/ Whatever we do/ We’re gonna go through it together” –Mama Rose, Herbie and Louise in “Together, Wherever We Go”

“You can ‘uh,’ you can ‘uh’/ You can ‘uh, uh, uh’/ That’s how burlesque was born/ So I ‘uh’ and I ‘uh’/ And I ‘uh, uh, uh’/ But I do it with a horn” –Mazeppa in “You Gotta Get a Gimmick”

“My mother/ Who got me into this business/ Always told me/ Make ‘em beg for more/ And don’t give it to ‘em/ But I’m not my mother” –Louise in “The Strip – On The Road Again”

“Well, someone tell me, when is it my turn?/ Don’t I get a dream for myself?/ Starting now, it’s gonna be my turn/ Gangway world, get off of my runway/ Starting now, I bat a thousand/ This time boys, I’m takin’ the bows and/ Everything’s comin’ up Rose/ Everything’s comin’ up roses/ Everything’s comin’ up roses/ This time for me/ For me” –Mama Rose in “Rose’s Turn”
