Thomas Rhett’s Top 10 Songs

What’s your country song? If you asked country music fans over the last decade, the response would likely feature a strong showing for Thomas Rhett. Across seven studio albums, including 2024’s About a Woman, the Georgia native and son of country singer Rhett Akins has notched 20 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart while developing his own mix of country, pop and R&B.
Ahead of the Thomas Rhett: Better In Boots Tour 2025, which kicks off in June, check out 10 of the top Thomas Rhett songs listed below—and it goes like this.
10. “T-Shirt”
Some borrowed threads turn into a Guns N’ Roses music video on Thomas Rhett’s “T-Shirt.” Written by Ashley Gorley, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally, the song perfectly matches the exciting first signs of young love with Rhett’s charming country pop sound. After arriving in 2016 as the third single from his 2015 album Tangled Up, the twice-platinum single also marked Rhett’s sixth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
9. “Beautiful As You”
For his 2024 album About a Woman, Rhett used his lead single “Beautiful As You” to address a specific imbalance in his marriage. Over the propulsive, country-dance beat, Rhett measures himself against his wife Lauren Akins and wonders aloud in the chorus, “What’s someone as beautiful as you/ Doing riding ’round with someone like me?” Luckily, Rhett decides to “stop asking questions” and just enjoy the ride.
8. “What’s Your Country Song”
With so many classic cuts to choose from, “What’s Your Country Song” off Rhett’s 2020 album Country Again (Side A) quickly becomes an ode to country music history. Referencing country legends like his father Rhett Akins, Hank Williams, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard and more, Rhett shares his own inspirations with 16 country song titles sprinkled into the lyrics. After notching Rhett’s second No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, “What’s Your Country Song” just might be the answer to the question.
7. “Crash and Burn”
Despite its disaster-themed lyrics, Rhett’s 2015 single “Crash and Burn” served as the smooth-landing, lead single from his sophomore album, Tangled Up. Smashing together Rhett’s country specialties with modern pop and retro doo-wop sounds, the song delivers a winning combo regardless of the doomed romance in the lyrics, written by Chris Stapleton, Jesse Frasure and Sam Cooke. Notable for its radical production shift from the country-heavy debut It Goes Like This, “Crash and Burn” teases more creative genre experimentation from Rhett to come.
6. “Craving You”
Opening Rhett’s chart-topping third album, 2017’s Life Changes, “Craving You” pairs Rhett with Maren Morris for a broody yet smoldering duet that reveals a broader, more mature shift. The supercharged collab finds the pair sounding absolutely hungry in their vocal performances, with every desire hitting with a hint of danger, from the last cigarette to another shot of hundred-proof liquor. For more thrills, see the whole chase play out in the song’s action movie-inspired music video.
5. “It Goes Like This”
It starts with a smile. The breakout single and title track from Rhett’s 2013 debut album It Goes Like This sets the tone for the rest of the Georgia country star’s career. Co-written by his father Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip and Jimmy Robbins, “It Goes Like This” proved Rhett could front a classic country number, with its heavy-pounding beat and rapid-fire hook, while giving an early showcase for his now-signature voice and genre-blending style. The triple-platinum single stands as Rhett’s first song to top the Billboard Country Airplay chart, so if fans want to hear some “old” Thomas Rhett, it goes like this.
4. “Unforgettable”
On the 2017 single “Unforgettable,” Thomas Rhett shows how tightly he can hold on to a memory while reflecting on a romantic first encounter. Starting with the exact date (October 14), Rhett recalls small-but-sweet details like the night’s mango-rita drink or doing the Running Man dance, while the hook expands “from your blue jeans to your shoes, girl that night was just like you: unforgettable.” Elsewhere in the chorus, Rhett once again drops his needle-drop knowledge with a well-placed Coldplay reference. Co-written by Rhett, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Shane McAnally, “Unforgettable” has gone on to earn two platinum certifications.
3. “Look What God Gave Her”
Rhett’s prayers are quite literally answered on “Look What God Gave Her.” As the lead single from his 2019 album Center Point Road, “Look What God Gave Her” disguises a deep ballad about gratitude and love inside a bubbly, country-pop tune with one of the catchiest hooks amongst all Thomas Rhett hits. Co-written and co-produced by Rhett, the double-platinum single blends his personal touches with a more universal appreciation for women and the titular Almighty One.
2. “Marry Me”
Don’t let the title fool you; Thomas Rhett’s 2017 single “Marry Me” is not nuptials-friendly. While Rhett outlines an idyllic wedding and his unmistakable passion for the bride, he quickly subverts all wedding song standards by revealing he’s actually a guest instead of the groom. Despite the twist, “Marry Me” would go on to become one of the most popular Thomas Rhett songs, hitting No. 1 and 2 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, respectively. Rhett also didn’t leave the wedding without any hardware; “Marry Me” would eventually garner four RIAA platinum certifications, the second-highest total for any single in his career.
1. “Die a Happy Man”
To die a happy fan, Thomas Rhett buffs need to hear “Die a Happy Man.” Rhett’s sensual but solemn ballad from 2015’s Tangled Up pushed the country singer onto his biggest stage yet, earning a career-high No. 21 spot on the Hot 100 while hitting No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts and spending six consecutive weeks atop the latter. In 2017, “Die a Happy Man” netted Thomas Rhett his first Grammy nomination, for Best County Song, and later set a new RIAA peak with eight platinum certifications. The song continues to endear audiences as Rhett’s most-played song live, according to setlist.fm. For another spin, check out the Tori Kelly remix from 2016’s Tangled Up (Deluxe).
