Great news for entertainment fans located in New Jersey: New Jersey Transit is giving customers free rides for a week, making it the perfect time to head to a sports game, concert or theater performance.
New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy recently announced a transit “fare holiday” for all NJ Transit customers. During the period of August 26 through September 2, fares will be waived for all modes of transportation.

New Jersey Transit is offering a fare holiday from August 26 to September 2. During that period, the system is waiving fares for all modes of transportation, including bus, rail, and light rail. Monthly pass holders can also receive a 25% discount on September passes.

How does the NJ Transit fare holiday work?
During the NJ Transit fare holiday, fares will be waived for all modes of NJ Transit transportation, including all NJ Transit bus routes, trains, light rail and Access Link, as well as Metro-North trains operated by NJ Transit. That means you don’t need a ticket to travel during this period!
Note: PATH and PATCO trains are not included in the fare holiday.
