Home of the Colorado Rockies
Coors Field, home to the Colorado Rockies, is the ballpark venue most likely to take your breath. Located in the Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood of Denver with the team’s hulking namesake Rocky Mountains in clear view, Major League Baseball’s highest elevated stadium offers a peak gameday experience with historically home-run heavy scoring in the Mile High City.

Coors Field History
Coors Field opened in 1995 ahead of the Colorado Rockies’ third season as an MLB expansion team. Construction of the stadium actually revealed an assortment of dinosaur fossils, which eventually inspired the team’s triceratops mascot, Dinger. Due to Denver’s high altitude, dry climate and high winds, Coors Field instantly became a hitter’s paradise, regularly leading the league in home runs hit and holding the single-season record at 303 since 1997. In 2002, the Rockies took an unprecedented step to address the high-flying frenzy by installing state-of-the-art humidors to maintain the balls’ hardness ahead of games.
The ballpark became the foundation of Denver’s revitalized sports venues, opening years ahead of the nearby Ball Arena, home of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, as well as Empower Field at Mile High, home of the NFL’s Denver Broncos. Coors Field has undergone several renovations of its own, including the addition of a rooftop deck in 2013 and a massive scoreboard upgrade in 2018.

Aside from the Rockies’ regular season action, Coors Field hosted the MLB All-Star Game in 1998 and 2021. Despite its design as a baseball-centric stadium, the venue has also presented NHL games, like the 2016 NHL Stadium Series, and concerts with Zac Brown Band, Billy Joel, Eagles, Kane Brown and more.
